Veteran Safety Lardarius Webb Says Goodbye to Baltimore

Hurst (6-5, 317) has started 15 career games at left guard, 14 at left tackle, two as a tight end in "jumbo formations" and one at right tackle.

By signing Hurst, the Ravens now have 10 unrestricted free agents. He started at left guard in 15 games and at left tackle on November 19 against Green Bay, subbing for the injured Ronnie Stanley.

"This is good news for our football team", Ravens coach John Harbaugh said in a statement released by the team. While Hurst has never been a top lineman, his value comes in being able to play both tackle and guard. With starting guards Marshal Yanda and Alex Lewis expected back after season-ending injuries previous year, right tackle Austin Howard's future with the team could now be in jeopardy.

If he moves back to tackle, it would leave current starter Austin Howard on the outside looking in.

Moving on from Webb, 32, saves the Ravens almost $2 million in cap space. He made three starts and notched 39 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions. But Webb's role was diminished once cornerback Maurice Canady returned from injured reserve; Webb averaged seven defensive snaps throughout the final four games of the season.

A third-round draft pick out of Nicholls State in 2009, Webb played nine seasons with the Ravens, appearing in 127 regular-season games, with 85 starts.

Webb, 32, was primarily a special teams player for the Ravens last season. Webb finished the year with two interceptions and a forced fumble for a unit that led the National Football League in interceptions and total takeaways.

Webb was a longtime fixture in Baltimore's defense.

An Alabama native, Webb has been active in the Baltimore community throughout his career, including a popular charity softball game held each summer.

Releasing Webb for the second consecutive offseason saves the Ravens $1.75 million against the 2018 salary cap.

Starting center Ryan Jensen is a pending free agent. However, Webb finally lost his starting job this past season.
