Russia Denounces Provocation to Sabotage FIFA World Cup

England World Cup Russian spy poisoning Putin

The palace refused to comment on whether the decision was down to Russia's suspected role in Sergei Skripal's poisoning.

Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has described claims of state involvement as "rubbish".

England manager, Gareth Southgate, has said the team will be at the World.

MPs last night piled the pressure on British Prime Minister (no comma) Theresa May, 61, to consider withdrawing from the tournament in June.

England fans have been warned to be extra vigilant amid rising fears for their safety at the World Cup in Russian Federation this summer.

On BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday, Labour's Stephen Kinnock said: "I also think we should seriously consider about making a coordinated approach to Federation Internationale de Football Association and talk with Federation Internationale de Football Association and other allies about moving the World Cup to 2019 and having it hosted in a different host country or countries".

"We're preparing to go to the World Cup, there's no doubt in our mind that's what we should be doing".

"And, I'm afraid the danger of Russian Federation responding to British fans for actions taken by their government is all too real".

"We have repeatedly warned that before the start of the World Cup in Russian Federation, the Western media will launch a full-scale media campaign to discredit Russian Federation and undermine its credibility as hosts".

Officials, apparently anticipating deteriorating relations between Britain and Russian Federation, warned that Britons should aware of the risk of "anti-British sentiment or harassment" arising from "heightened political tensions".

He said: "It's very important for people to understand the gravity of what has happened and the outrage that the British government feels about the use of nerve agents, the use of chemical weapons against innocent members of the public, against an innocent police officer on United Kingdom soil".

Hannigan told BBC Radio 4's Today programme the response should include "the expulsion of diplomats on a scale we probably haven't seen since the Cold War" but also "hitting the economic targets" including those who do business in London.

According to Russian news agency Tass, Mr Peskov said: "We hope that common sense will prevail and that other countries will at least stop to think if there is any proof or there is none, and if reproaches against Moscow have grounds to rely on". "Russian Federation is our neighbour so therefore we have to continue to strive for an improved, better relationship with Russian Federation".

"It sounds to me like they believe it was Russian Federation, and I would certainly take that finding as fact", he added. It's our neighbour, it is here to stay.
