Rohit Sharma sets up India win to advance to T20 final

India vs Bangladesh: Fifth T20 squads, preview, and prediction

Earlier, India skipper Rohit smashed 89 runs off 61 balls by hitting five boundaries and as many sixes.

India reached the final of the Nidahas Twenty20 tri-series with a convincing -run win over Bangladesh at R Premadasa stadium on Wednesday.

Mushfiqur struck his second successive fifty in T20Is but when Shardul Thakur bowled Sabbir Rahman it was going to be tough to get over the line. Bangladesh must win each of their final two matches, beating India on Wednesday and hosts Sri Lanka on Friday, to seal their own spot in the final.

"If we would have conceded ten less runs then we could've won", Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah said. Abu Hider replaced Taskin in the Bangladesh team.

The two veterans of numerous IPL battles, shifted gears in the four overs between 16 to 19, in which India scored 55 runs.

After suffering a tame performance against Sri Lanka in the first T20I between the two team, the Rohit Sharma led side vindicated their mistakes by displaying a comprehensive performance against them in the last match.

Suresh Raina has got his 20s while Manish Pandey has remained steady in the middle-order.

There is only one change in the playing XI that India fielded against Sri Lanka in the last match, with pacer Mohammad Siraj replacing Jaydev Unadkat.

Indian rookie spinner Washington Sundar surprised Bangladesh by clinching three wickets and keeping the economy under six runs per over.

The last four overs saw some brilliant hammering from Rohit and Raina before the southpaw, who was three short of his 50 at that point, was caught by Sarkar off Rubel Hossain.

The off-spinner returned 3/22 to break the backbone of the Bangladeshi line-up helping India defend 176/3 and qualify for the final of the Nidahas T20 tri-series, also involving Sri Lanka.

In reply, Bangladesh could manage only 159-6 in their 20 overs despite a hard fought 72 not out from Mushfiqur Rahim.

When Mustafizur (0/38 in 4 overs), while trying for the slower one, ended up bowling full tosses, Rohit opened the bat face to fetch boundaries in the arc between point and the third man.

Rohit would see out the innings striking fives sixes and five fours in his innings with Suresh Raina (47) supplementing his runs well.
