Head-on crash claims a life, closes Trans Canada Highway near Cherry Creek

Highway 1 has re-opened in both directions Tuesday night after one person was killed in a head-on collision west of Kamloops, B.C.

"Upon arrival it was determined that a west-bound pickup truck with one occupant collided head-on with an east bound pickup truck with four occupants".

The driver of the westbound pickup truck died as the scene, while the four occupants of the eastbound truck went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and the highway remains closed in both directions while the investigation continues. "So, if you need to use the highway we ask you to use an alternate route".
