HBO Orders Nicole Kidman Limited Series Thriller The Undoing

Nicole Kidman The Undoing HBO David E. Kelley

Like with BLL, Kelley executive produces The Undoing through David E. Kelley Productions and will serve as showrunner.

The limited series is an adaptation of Jean Hanff Korelitz's book You Should Have Known, with Kidman attached to star, reported Deadline. All three will also be executive producers on The Undoing.

The Undoing is the story of Grace Sachs (Kidman) who is a successful therapist with a book on the way, a good marriage and a son in a private school in New York City.

The psychological thriller series follows Kidman's Grace as she floats through the "only life she ever wanted for herself". Suddenly, her life implodes in an instant just weeks before her book's publication, ripping a hole in her world.

However, the weeks before her book release, her world turns upside down with a violent death, missing husband and bad chain of revelations.

"We're thrilled to continue our creative relationships with both Nicole and David", said HBO programming president Casey Bloys. "A character-driven psychological thriller, I'm excited about the adaptation and thrilled to be able to do it with Nicole and HBO", Kelley said. Kidman and Kelley's previous collaboration for the premium channel earned her numerous awards a year ago, but it also proved a big enough hit that the powers that be at HBO deigned it necessary to order a second season, one that will not only reunite the main cast that also includes Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, and Adam Scott, but it will also bring perennial Academy Award nominee Meryl Streep on board as the mother of Alexander Skarsgård's Perry Wright.

Now, Nicole Kidman is unveiling her next project: The Undoing, a new HBO series that reunites her with Big Little Lies scribe David E. Kelley.

For Kidman's part, her Blossom Films banner is also teaming with Witherspoon and Papandrea to adapt Big Little Lies author Laine Moriarty's new novel, Truly Madly Guilty into a limited series. The actress won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for her performance. Abrams' Demimonde, Jordan Peele's Lovecraft Country, True Detective, Sharp Objects, The Deuce and Here and Now, among others.
