Still, while it may not be recommended, this mom and her baby seemed happy and healthy following their incredible birth experience.
Pregnant woman gives birth in the Red Sea.
A handful of photos show the woman, who is said to be a Russian tourist visiting the small Egyptian town of Dahab, walking out of the Red Sea after giving birth, along with the newborn being carried out by the woman's partner and another elderly gentleman - apparently, the woman's father.
Cetusnews also reported on Tuesday that a Facebook user named Hadia Hosny El Said shared photos on Saturday of both the woman and the newborn emerging from the Red Sea. Her uncle owns a hotel on the shores of the Red sea and he spotted the incident from the balcony of his hotel. The bikini-clad woman looked like she had just been for a swim.
Hadia said the older man carrying the baby is a doctor specialising in water births, meaning the delivery was arranged ahead of time. In another picture, the new mom is seen reuniting with her child on the beach.
The images, which show the baby with its umbilical cord still attached and its placenta in a plastic container, were taken by a tourist from a hotel balcony. Then he took pictures of the mother coming out of the water as she had just taken a swim, and greeting her other child on the beach.
Social media users praised the apparent ease and beauty of the birth as they shared the images online.
According to the American Pregnancy Association, the theory behind water birth is that since the baby has already been in the amniotic fluid sac for nine months, birthing in a similar environment could be less stressful for the baby as well as the mother.
People on the social media flooded the post with comments.
