Sidney Crosby breaks out of drought to notch 400th career goal

Crosby added an empty-net goal with 2:48 left, his 19th of the season.

Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby scored his 400th career goal early in the second period against St. Louis.

FLAMES 3, ISLANDERS 2: Matthew Tkachuk scored twice in the third period, getting the tiebreaking goal with 1:05 left, to rally Calgary at NY. The victory keeps the Pens in second place in the Metropolitan Division, one point in front of Philadelphia. He led the National Hockey League with 44 goals last season. He is also the 25th to have 400 goals with more than 650 assists.

Jimmy Vesey scored with 3:53 left as NY won at Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Kyle Brodziak scored for St. Louis, which had won their last two games.

Matthew Tkachuk scored the tying and winning goals in the third period as the Flames rallied from 2-0 down to beat the Islanders, 3-2.

Crosby had been held scoreless in his previous 10 games.

Goalie Matt Murray made 33 saves for the Penguins. Boucher and Jake Virtanen had unassisted goals to open the scoring before Thomas Vanek made it 3-0 13 1/2 minutes into the game. Conor Sheary assisted on the goal.

SABRES: Jack Eichel, the team's leading scorer, is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a sprained right ankle.
