Rumor: Localization Underway For Pokemon Switch Already

Pokemon on Nintendo Switch currently being localized; Could launch in 2018

The job listing is a six month contract for a localization expert and it looks like the work will kick off sometime between April and June 2018.

We're still waiting on an official release date from Nintendo - as well as an actual title for the game - but we expect to hear more information soon. "Editors are being hired on a minimum 6 Month contract", we read in the tweet of Pixelpar that we have reported at the bottom of the news. A job listing indicates that the untitled Pokemon console game is in the late stages of development as it is now being localized and it will reportedly be finished by June based off of the contracts for the editors.

Both Nintendo and Game Freak have stated that the Pokemon RPG might not come out this year. We'll have to wait and see.

Typically, Pokemon games release in early March or mid-October. Besides, what else does Nintendo have slated for their console this year?

However, the new job listing isn't necessarily an indication that the Pokemon Switch title is coming this year.

Localization is part of the final steps to delivering any game. This process could take place at varies stages of the game's development, but some fans are hoping that this means things are coming to a close and the game could be ready as early as holiday 2018.

The engine is known for its versatility and compatibility with various platforms - including the Nintendo Switch. One other series making its way to the Switch is Pokemon.

It would make sense for the studio to shift to a 3D engine for its first true HD Pokemon project.

The job listing shows Unreal Engine 4 open beside an image of a high-polygon model of a Pikachu - another hint we could see high-resolution monsters in the next iteration of the franchise.

Of course, this is all rumour at the moment. Although the localization editor's term would run from June through December at the latest, that would give the Pokemon Company enough time to translate the game and then work on marketing material for the game's pending release.
