Raila 'reveals' Robert Godec's mess during presidential polls

Ruth Odinga leads demos against Uhuru in London

He said: "Rather than promoting peaceful healing, this condemnation of Raila will lead to increased radicalisation on both sides of the divide".

Kenya's fiery opposition leader Raila Odinga has told Western envoys in the country to leave the opposition alone following their push for him to recognise President Uhuru Kenyatta as the duly elected leader of the nation, Kenya's Daily Nation reported on Monday.

On Twitter, Kiyiapi who unsuccessfully vied for the country's top seat in 2013 alongside Raila, Uhuru and other candidates, said Western envoys are primarily about interests of their countries. Why should they tell Kenyans who should be their President?'. They can only be, but observers. He added that "no Kenyan has ever told the USA who should be their president or to the United Kingdom or Germany who should be their Prime Minister".

A day earlier, on Saturday, the U.S. and UK-led envoys faulted Raila who has been threatening violence, they said his sentiments were unacceptable.

The battle for political supremacy in Kenya is now being played out on the diplomatic turf as Raila Odinga and the ruling Jubilee party respond to a joint statement by 11 ambassadors including of the United States and the United Kingdom, on the prevailing tensions in the country.

The Rev Karanja said President Kenyatta should be the one to invite Opposition leaders and other relevant stakeholders in the discussions, which he said should be geared towards putting issues relating to the last elections behind and forge the way forward. The Opposition needs to accept this as the basis for the dialogue that it and many Kenyans want.

He added that just two days to the polls, envoys came out and stated that they had trust in the system.

"He said Raila has been holding the country together in the face of his supporters' intense outrage and demand that he lead them" in a much more visceral response to the regime's stealing the election".

But speaking during a visit to Lang'ata on Sunday, where he interacted with victims of the Kijiji slum fire, Raila noted the envoys are on record lauding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission in the run up to the October 26 repeat poll when it was clear things were not okay.

At the Nairobi rally Odinga insisted that Kenyans were capable of solving their own problems and asked the diplomats to "keep off" Kenyan politics.

They urged the Government to protect democratic institutions and adhere to the Constitution and the rule of law at all times, highlighting the need to comply fully with court orders as well as protect the freedom of expression, freedom of the media, and all civil rights.
