Rahul Gandhi conducts roadshow in Koppal as part of Karnataka poll campaign

He said this while addressing the gathering in Bellary, Karnataka bon Saturday. He advised the PM to learn from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on how to run the government. This was his first visit to the state after he took over as the party chief in December.

Yeddyurappa, who is BJP's Karnataka unit president, also took to Twitter to welcome the Congress president by calling him an "election Hindu". "When we come to power next, we will work twice as hard", the Congress leader asserted.

Responding to Gandhi's jibe, the government said that the Rafale deal was better in many aspects than the one "notionally negotiated" by the Congress regime, which could not conclude it in ten years.

Goyal also said that people of Karnataka are smart and will not be impressed by such "tactics".

The region now receives Rs 4,000 crore, as against to Rs 350 crore grants it earlier got, Gandhi added.

Gandhi and the Congress party have often accused the NDA government of not recognizing the contribution made by Nehru and his successors.

Concluding his speech by striking an emotional chord, he said, " I share a special connection with Ballari.

He further continued his tirade against the Centre over the Rafale deal and said, "Today, the Rafale mystery is another example of major corruption in BJP government". He will address a public meeting at Kukanur near Yelburga in Koppal district in the evening.

A special Volvo bus has been arranged for the party chief for his four-day visit. He will be given a reception by district congress committee workers at Munirabad Huligi Cross in Koppal district at 3pm today.

On the third day, Gandhi will visit Raichur, Yadgir and Kalaburgi districts for public receptions, participate in a tribal rally at Devadurga in Raichur district, interact with youth and students at Shahpur in Yadgir district, followed by public meetings at Jewargi and Kalaburgi towns.
