North Korea's Kim Invites S. Korean President for Summit: S. Korea

North Korean art troupe returns home after performances in the South

It was the United States that appeared to be the one left in the cold, especially after the sister of the North Korean dictator extended an invitation from her brother for Moon to visit the North. News coverage in Pyeongchang focused on the legitimate rarity of seeing Northerners traveling in the South, and sister Kim Yo-jong is "stealing the show", according to CNN.

Kim Yo-jong arrived at Cheong Wa Dae carrying a blue folder with a letter from her brother that bore the official North Korean emblem.

Earlier in the day, the DPRK delegates lunched with South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon and other government officials and experts from the South Korean side.

Chanting "Let's tear Kim Jong-un to death!" the crowd ripped up posters of the North Korean leader and burnt images of him, as well as the North Korean flag and posters of a united Korea, until police ran in to put it out.

During Pence's visit, Moon assured the vice president he would tell the North Koreans clearly that they would not get economic or diplomatic concessions for just talking, only for taking concrete steps toward denuclearization, the newspaper said.

Turns out the North Korean leader is actually an Australian named Howard.

"North Korea is skilfully driving a wedge between the US, Japan and South Korea".

The first few days of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games have already revealed the softer side of the North's effort to woo the South and soften the resolve of the US and its allies.

Pyongyang conducted its largest nuclear test a year ago and in November tested its most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile that experts said has the range to reach anywhere in the United States.

Guterres also met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday and expressed hope the Winter Olympics will open a "window of opportunity" for stronger diplomatic efforts between the two Koreas, in order to denuclearise the peninsula, South Korean presidential office said in a statement.

The US has given mixed signals about its willingness to talk.

Moon and Kim Yong Nam planned to return to the Games venue to watch the joint Korean women's ice hockey team - the first ever combined team at the Olympics - take on Switzerland, the Blue House said.

"Moon is saying that although he is keen to reboot inter-Korean relations, the dialogue between the United States and the North is essential".

If a summit does go ahead, it will be the first between the two Koreas since 2007.

Athletes from North and South Korea, technically still at war, marched together at the Games opening ceremony.

A foreign resident living in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, said he had seen fewer people in restaurants and luxury goods in shops in recent months.
