Kasganj Violence: Chandan's father receives death threats, seeks security

"I was sitting outside, some people came on the bike in morning".

"We have taken it very seriously and informed news agency's head office in Delhi. We will see you", Sushil Gupta, father of Chandan, said. "I also want a license for arms so that my family can feel secure", he said.

"Our lives are under threat, we demand licence for firearms for our safety and security", he told reporters.

Among those arrested are Saleem Javed, the prime accused.

An AMUSU delegation also met IG, Aligarh range, Sanjeev Gupta over Kasganj violence.


"Based on his interrogation, a country-made pistol used in the murder was recovered from the Baakner area", he had added.

Of the three main accused in the Chandan murder case - Salim, Waseem and Naseem - only one has been arrested so far and the other two are still at large.

Senior police officer Anand Kumar said according to the FIR and statements by some of the witnesses, Saleem was the person who opened fire from the roof or balcony of his house that killed the college student.

With no fresh incident of violence being reported from Kasganj in the last 24 hours, the situation is limping back to normal. At least three shops, two buses and a auto were also torched in the clashes. At least three shops, two buses and a vehicle were torched after Gupta died.

Communal clashes broke out in this western Uttar Pradesh town after stones were pelted on a "Tiranga Yatra" taken out to celebrate the Republic Day.
