Instagram now ALERTS people when YOU take a screenshot, just like SnapChat

Instagram now notifies users if someone takes a screenshot of their Stories

While Facebook still stands well ahead of Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter in terms of overall user numbers, the drop among younger age groups suggests that its rivals are taking some of the share.

Instagram is testing a feature that will show users when someone else takes a screenshot of their story. To be clear, creators won't get a specific notification when someone takes a screenshot of their story, it will only show up in their list of story viewers. A shutter-shaped icon will be featured next to the user's name who has clicked a screenshot of your story.

We suppose it is fair to let people know when their content has been saved, although we're also sure that there are some who would prefer if their screenshotting habits are about to become a bit more public. Talking about Instagram Stories, in brief, the feature lets you post an image or video inside your Stories which will not remain on your account permanently. Instagram will Now Notify Screenshot Alerts, if someone will take the screenshot of your stories. However, with the upcoming feature, it will be easier for you to keep a tab on who is secretly saving a screenshot of your the vanishing stories.

Apart from this, third-party applications, like Story Reposter, can also resort to pull off the screenshot trick.

According to the report, Instagram is likely to roll out the feature if there is not a major impact on engagement. The new feature appears to be aimed at curbing the spread of cyberstalking, and ensure better privacy for users.

Back in January, the USA company enabled activity status in its direct messages, enabling other users to see the last time you were active within the app. Notably, users can rewatch stories as many times as they want within 24 hours, with the creator unable to see exactly how many times one person watched it.
