Imran Tahir 'verbally and racially abused' by Indian fan in 4th ODI

Imran Tahir racially abused South Africa India 4th ODI Johannesburg cricket

Tahir, who grew up in Pakistan and learnt all his cricket there, was dropped from the Playing XI and instead performed drink duties, in the course of which he was verbally assaulted by the said fan.

The Proteas won the match in dramatic fashion by five wickets on the Duckworth/Lewis method to reduce the series deficit to 3-1, with two more ODIs to play - at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday and on Friday at SuperSport Park in Centurion, with South Africa needing to win both to square the series 3-3.

There was an incident of racial abuse during the fourth ODI between India and South Africa in Johannesburg on Saturday.

"Cricket South Africa has noted and is aware of the circulation of video footage featuring Imran Tahir on social media and Whatsapp groups", CSA said in a release.

South African spinner Imran Tahir was subjected to racial abuse by a fan during the fourth one-day worldwide against India in Johannesburg, Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed on Monday. The incident, that took place on February 12, was acknowledged by Cricket South Africa (CSA). Tahir immediately reported the matter to security officials present at the stadium following which the offender was ejected out of the stadium.

"We just want to get an idea from the stadium security perspective". "According to what Imran said, it was an Indian fan", Moosajee added. And to neutralise the situation, they removed him (Tahir) from the scene and brought him back to the changing room. "There were no exchanges and there were no children involved in the incident as it has been told on the social media", said Moosajee during the press conference on Monday. The video, shot by another fan, doesn't show any physical altercation between the two sides.
