Huskers get back on track with win over Indiana

The victory improved the Huskers to 21-9 overall and 12-5 in Big Ten play.

Guard James Palmer led Nebraska with 15 points while forward Isaac Copeland added 13 and forward Isaiah Roby 11 with eight rebounds.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - James Palmer scored 15 points Tuesday night as Nebraska beat IN 66-57, allowing the Huskers the resume their NCAA Tournament pursuit. His team's shortcomings on the glass were no fault of Juwan Morgan's, who grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and added 13 points.

IN (16-13, 9-8) had a four-game winning streak snapped, hurting itself with 19 turnovers.

The Hoosiers trailed by three with 4 1/2 minutes to play before Nebraska ripped off eight straight points.

The Hoosiers led 41-37 after a basket by senior forward Freddie McSwain Jr. with 13:50 remaining before senior guard Evan Taylor scored five points during a 10-0 burst that gave the Cornhuskers a six-point lead with 9:27 left.

Robert Johnson also had 16 points for IU.

IN survived one of its strangest games of the season and kept its winning streak alive with the Big Ten tournament less than two weeks away.

The Hoosiers will have one more opportunity for a marquee Big Ten win in the regular season, as they close out the conference schedule with an Assembly Hall matchup against No. 17 Ohio State (23-7, 14-3) on Friday. Freshman Justin Smith led the charge, scoring 10 points in the first six minutes of the second session. Nebraska responded with five of the next seven points to take a 56-51 advantage on Roby's 3-pointer with 5:28 remaining.

IN also hurt itself with nine turnovers but never trailed by more than five points in the half, facing its largest deficit at 9-4 after a Roby dunk.

Nebraska: The NCAA tourney hopes remain fragile, but Nebraska picked itself up nicely after its costly loss at IL.
