George and Amal Clooney donating $500000 for student march against gun violence

George Amal Clooney Parkland March for Our Lives

Students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, where a 19-year-old former student is accused of going on a rampage with a semiautomatic AR-15-style assault rifle on February 14, are assisting in planning the march. March For Our Lives will take place on the 24th of March and was organized by Jacqueline Coren, Cameron Kasky, Alex Wind, David Hogg, and Emma Gonzalez.

In less than a week, Parkland, Florida, has transformed into the grounds for a new movement helmed by teenagers who have made it their mission to shift the conversation around gun control and put an end to mass shootings.

"In the name of our children Ella and Alexander, we're donating US$500,000 to help pay for this groundbreaking event".

George and Amal Clooney will donate $500,000 to the March for Our Lives, a demonstration to advocate for gun control in the wake of Wednesday's tragic shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla.

"Our children's lives depend on it", he added.

"We are overwhelmed with the support, and we can't wait to march".

As you may know, seventeen students were killed last week following the shooting from a 19-year-old student who walked into the school with an AR-15-style.223 caliber rifle and opened fire on the faculty and student body.

The White House says President Donald Trump is supportive of efforts to improve background checks for gun purchases, but many want far more deep-seated reforms.

The nationwide group March For Our Lives announced Sunday that they will march in the nation's capital and other cities on March 24 to demand safer schools and legislation "to effectively address the gun violence issues that are rampant" across the nation. "We are going to be marching together as students begging for our lives", Kasky told ABC's "This Week". George condemned bigotry in a statement released to PEOPLE at the time. "Their young voices will be heard".
