Brighton's record signing Locadia set for debut against Coventry

Predicted Brighton XI vs Coventry

Jurgen Locadia's debut goal helped Brighton and Hove Albion ease past Coventry City 3-1 and into the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

Chris Hughton has used Albion's two Cup games so far as a chance for fringe squad players to get minutes on the pitch.

Locadia received a standing ovation when he was substituted with 13 minutes remaining and Hughton was pleased with the 24-year-old's instant impact and that he can now play a part in Brighton's Premier League survival bid. "It was important that he came through the game and looked quite strong".

Clarke-Harris had always looked like City's brightest spark, and it was he who pulled a goal back for them in the 77th minute when a long free kick forward from the goalkeeper was allowed to bounce, and the striker pounced on the opportunity with a left-footed half-volley into the bottom corner at the far post.

"To get off the mark in your first game, I'm sure will give him a lift".

Coventry couldn't find the goal that would have made things interesting and their FA Cup run came to an end, but the memories they have forged this season have brought some much-needed smiles back to the Ricoh Arena.

Victory would put Albion into the quarter finals for the first time in 32 years.

"You want to be fortunate with the draw and that means trying to get a home tie".

Jonson Clarke-Harris grabbed a late consolation for the League Two side, but the loss of a clean sheet was not enough to overshadow Locadia's eye-catching contribution.

Mark Robins' Sky Blues have been chasing promotion back to the third tier of English football after relegation last season, however they now sit ninth in League Two after three consecutive defeats.

"He is a player that has scored goals this season [nine in 15 appearances for PSV] - that is why we have brought him in - and hopefully that will continue here". - Coventry have won just once in their last 11 away FA Cup matches against top-flight opposition (D2 L8), losing the last four in a row.

"I think first and foremost, you've got to understand the age of our team - we're very, very young", said Robins.

"We found it hard to cope with the movement because they're a passing team".

"But we've been given a good opportunity and it's up to us to take that one".

"We don't come up against those type of problems every day but it was a good experience for us, in terms of learning and development but also I thought we were a threat".
