Australian star opener David Warner has been given some time-off before his side resumes T20I tri-series campaign against New Zealand on February 16 at the iconic Eden Park, Auckland.
Lehmann is also not anxious about Warner's lack of runs in the current T20 tri-series that also includes the Kiwis and England. New Zealand, too, might have to do away with their regular skipper for the tie against England.
"We want to make sure the next game is a strong performance". The England captain was ruled out of the last match against Australia due to a groin injury, with Jos Buttler leading the side, and will be assessed by the medical team ahead of the nets on match day.
He trained this afternoon with the New Zealand team. Obviously England and Australia have played two in a row which means we didn't have a game to play.
England (from): Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Jake Ball, Dawid Malan, James Vince, Eoin Morgan (capt), Jos Buttler (wk & vice-capt), Sam Billings, Liam Dawson, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Tom Curran, Sam Curran, Liam Plunkett, Ben Stokes, Mark Wood.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has a back injury and could also be absent. Henry Nicholls has also been called as cover.
"100ish... just got a few niggles, a bit of a back niggling so hopefully it's settled by tomorrow night", said Williamson.
"I'm looking forward to taking a full part in training today in hope that I should be fit for tomorrow night, but Henry is in as cover for those reasons".
There is perceived to be scattered firepower in the Kiwis's batting department; while Colin Munro and Martin Guptill form a potent strike force at the top of the order, there is little else by way of explosive ball-striking beyond Colin de Grandhomme. Chapman, 23, has played two One-Day Internationals and 19 T20Is for Hong Kong, where he was born, but is eligible to play for New Zealand through his father. That includes his 117 off 104 balls against Wellington a little over a week back.
"He captains really well, he's clued into the game and he would be a big miss, so hopefully he'll be back playing in a couple of days".
