Auto Expo 2018: Hyundai unveils Ioniq electric and 2018 Elite i20

Auto Expo 2018 New 2018 Hyundai i20 facelift launched at Rs 5.35 Lakh

Hyundai Motor India Ltd, country's second largest vehicle maker has finally launched the new Hyundai i20 facelift in India today at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018.

In terms of features, the Elite i20 packs quite a punch.

The launch of the new Elite i20 sees Hyundai ditch the more powerful 1.4-litre petrol engine and the ancient automatic gearbox.

The second-gen i20 a.k.a the Elite i20 was based on Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy at launch.

Under the theme 'Experience Hyundai' a number of cars and technologies were on exhibit. At the back, there's a new bumper with a black insert towards the lower portion housing the reflector units. Finally, the tail lamps feature LED graphics which we didn't get with the pre-facelift model, unlike its European version. The boot lid and the rear bumper have been redesigned as the licence plate has been shifted from the latter to the former. Priced at Rs 5.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the new Hyundai Elite i20 Facelift now sports cosmetic updates on the outside as well as inside while the mechanical front remains untouched. On the feature front, the hatchback gets new upholstery, 3-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, reverse parking sensors, power steering and much more. The diesel variants start from Rs. 6.73 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom), while the top-end variant is priced at Rs. 9.15 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The company has grand plans for India which includes investment of over Dollars 1 billion (around ₹ 6,300 crore) in India in the next three years on new products, development of powertrain and setting up of a new office building.
