Arsenal identify Lyon's Nabil Fekir as No 1 summer target

Arsenal receive boost in Chris Smalling pursuit as Man Utd name their price

Any player who is not a striker, with the kind of tally that Fekir has, is sure to attract the very best of clubs.

The Daily Mail says that Arsenal want to pay a 45 million euros fee to sign the Lyon star in the upcoming summer transfer window. So Arsene Wenger wants to complete his signing before the tournament in Russian Federation begins.

The 24-year-old's value would sky-rocket if he starred for France this summer so it makes sense for Arsenal to try and secure a deal before he heads off to Russian Federation in June but it remains to be seen whether Lyon are willing to cash-in on their star man.

The 24-year-old has been in exceptional form for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 16 goals in 22 league games, with nine in his last 15 Ligue 1 appearances making up for the absence of departed Alexandre Lacazette. He also has five assists to his name this term. More recently, Zinedine Zidane considered signing the Frenchman to Real Madrid last summer.

The Gunners strengthened their attacking line in January, bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitayran at the end of the winter window.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has identified Lyon attacking-midfielder Nabil Fekir as his number one summer transfer target, according to the Daily Mail.

While issues still remain in midfield and defense, it seems like Arsenal are finally showing some ambition as they aim to close that gap to the top teams.
