CES is held each January in Las Vegas and has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for 50 years-the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.
The UN estimates that 60 percent of the world's population will live in urban ares by 2030. Expect to see plenty of new smart home devices with inbuilt Alexa capabilities, while competitor Google is also expected to make some announcements around its own Google Assistant.
The sports zone may bring together tendencies which have emerged in CES over the decades: wearables, augmented reality, detectors, and apps for measuring physical activity. Using that technology anyone sportsperson can measure real-time injury, recovery and performance status.
One of the most curious devices arriving at CES will be presented by Miliboo, a company that has been working on a smart sofa that collects information about television viewing habits and correlates them to the posture assumed by viewers during specific programming. That is because the focus has changed from the most recent auto design and the way in which they drive to the tech inside.
"Clearly, we don't want self-driving vehicles to hesitate for even a millisecond, so we are going to need 5G", Koenig said. That will consist of matters like low-latency portable broadband in your auto.
Genuinely innovative gadgets that are destined for mass adoption are the exception, not the rule at CES.
We'll report back with the best, the worst, and the most dumfounding from Las Vegas throughout the week.
