Vikings officially activate Sam Bradford for Sunday

The report adds that the Cardinals covet Shurmur's potential ability to recruit Vikings quarterback Case Keenum when his contract expires this spring. That means he could dress for tomorrow's playoff game against the Saints.

The Vikings haven't dressed three quarterbacks for a game since November 7, 2013, when Leslie Frazier was the coach and Christian Ponder, Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman all were active against Washington.

There seemed to have been a true mental advantage for Keenum, who in addition to practice and game experience, got used to seeing the same plays over and over, knowing what to expect. Bradford, who completed 27 of his 32 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings' season-opening win over New Orleans, twisted his left knee in the game, and missed the team's next three games before making a truncated return on October 9 against the Bears.

Bradford appeared in three preseason games and 1 1/2 regular-season games. The surgery was not related to the two procedures he had to fix a torn ACL in 2013 and 2014.

Bridgewater on Friday wouldn't reveal who Sunday's backup will be.

"Some things you don't talk about", he said.

Bradford hasn't played in a full game since throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns in the opener against the Saints.

Bradford, who was placed on IR on November 8 with a left knee injury, returned to practice last week and completed his fifth practice Friday.

Bradford has participated in five practices since returning January 2.

Since his forgetful first-half performance in the Vikings' Week 5 win over the Chicago Bears, Sam Bradford has been sitting out on the sideline with a knee injury. Bradford dressing for the game would not necessarily mean he would play ahead of Bridgewater, and it would be a significant step if the Vikings were to put him on their 46-man active roster for the game at all. They've been mixing him in and getting him some reps here and there.
