Trump Says He 'Would Love To' Testify Under Oath Before Robert Mueller

United States ‘Looking forward’ to being questioned about Russian meddling says Donald Trump

US Special Counsel Robert Mueller has provided President Donald Trump's legal team with a range of topics for an interview in connection with the former's ongoing investigation into the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russia, CNN reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

"I'm looking forward to it actually", Trump said of the interview.

"I would do it under oath".

Stressing that he would take an oath before testifying in front of the special counsel, Trump noted that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was never interviewed under oath during the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into her mishandling of classified information.

McGahn disagreed with the president's case for dismissing Mueller and told senior White House officials that firing him would have a catastrophic effect on Trump's presidency and raise questions about whether the White House was trying to obstruct the Russian Federation probe, according to the people cited by the Times.

The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that Mueller wanted to interview the president about his decision to fire Michael Flynn and James Comey, suggesting that the case was targeting the president for obstruction of justice.

Asked whether he thought Mueller would treat him fairly, Trump replied: "We're going to find out".

The president said he's "not at all concerned" about what Sessions may have told Mueller's team.

Mueller's interrogation of Sessions was the first time a member of President Donald Trump's Cabinet was interviewed under oath.

"I'm looking forward to it", Trump told reporters.

"I've said it before, and I am saying it again: firing the Special Counsel is a red line that the President can not cross".

Investigators will also determine if Mr Trump obstructed the inquiry.

Trump has responded the Mueller investigation and congressional probes into the Russian election meddling are a hoax perpetrated by Democrats looking to explain his upset victory over his opponent, Hillary Clinton.

Although this is not the first time Trump has made such a promise, as he vowed something similar past year in June, his statement still appeared to surprise his legal team - and not in a positive way. Cobb has argued that the White House has nothing to hide, and that cooperation with Mueller would help to wrap up the probe quickly.

USA intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 campaign using hacking and propaganda to try to tilt the race in Trump's favour.

Cobb also clarified if the special counsel does call upon Trump, his attorney would be there to guide him through the meeting. He has been seeking an interview with Trump, but White House officials had not previously confirmed that the president would grant one.

Thus far, four people, including Trump's foreign campaign manager and Michael Flynn, the former U.S. national security adviser, have been indicted in the probe.
