United States president Donald Trump got his own "national anthem" moment on Monday and received a mixed reception from football fans in America's conservative south, a partial rebuke on his political home turf.
The president strolled to the middle of the field to participate in the national anthem before the much-anticipated game played in Atlanta. ESPN's cameras showed Trump mouthing the lyrics, but he appeared to stop haflway through.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily News.
Trump walked out with members of the Georgia ROTC before the Alabama Crimson Tide played the Georgia Bulldogs.
Despite reports and memes that claimed otherwise, the NFL doesn't not have any set rules for player behavior during the national anthem. Activists have attempted to correct Trump, pointing out that the players are protesting racism and police brutality, not the flag or the anthem.
President Trump was welcomed onto the field by a mixture of boos and cheers.
Many times throughout the 2017 NFL season, Donald Trump has ripped NFL players for not standing during the national anthem and disrespecting the country as a result.
Last year, Mr Trump described Atlanta as "falling apart" and "crime infested" after Congressman John Lewis refused to attend his inauguration.
And another added: "The man clearly does not know the words to the National Anthem".
It is also pertinent to mention Trump pushed the national anthem as a partisan issue shortly before the game during a speech to the American Farm Bureau Federation in Tennessee, tweeting, "We want our flag respected - and we want our NATIONAL ANTHEM respected also!"

And her longtime partner Stedman Graham suggested on Sunday she might be up for it. "She would absolutely do it". There is also this: a Public Policy Poll a year ago showed her beating Trump 47 percent to 40 percent.
