The Flight Of The Conchords TV Special Has Been Confirmed

Jermaine Clement and Bret Mc Kenzie perform live in Austin in 2009

Comedic duo Brett McKenzie and Jermaine Clements are reuniting for a tour round the US.

The stars of the quirky HBO comedy Flight of the Conchords are returning for a one-hour special, the network announced on Thursday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

Flight of the Conchords' broadcaster HBO confirmed the news this morning saying the special will air in May.

The special would be a filming of the duo performing new and classic Flight of the Conchords songs at one of the United Kingdom shows.

Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie first debuted on HBO in 2005 in an episode of the stand-up series "One Night Stand", then reappeared again 2007 for their self-titled hit series.

There has been huge interest in the tour, with tickets selling out in seconds and more dates having to be added.

Clement last week ignited speculation about the small screen return, telling an Entertainment Tonight reporter he and McKenzie were "going to film a little something this year".

"We're going to shoot an hour thing", he added.

The comedy special will be directed by Hamish Hamilton.
