Super Bowl Odds: Patriots Favored Heading into Divisional Round 1/7/18

Tom Brady Matt Ryan

They'll host the Saints on Sunday afternoon after New Orleans held on to beat the Panthers in the Wild Card round. Tennessee is the +5000 longshot on the Super Bowl futures. Ticket sales are divided equally, and although there would invariably be a Vikings' bias, the Super Bowl is largely a media and corporate event.

Now that four entertaining Wild Card games are complete (well, Jacksonville and Buffalo not so much), Vegas has released new Super Bowl LII odds, and two things jump out immediately. However, they have turned their season around, and are looking to make another playoff run. The Pats' odds to win the Super Bowl have dropped from +210 before last weekend to +200. Why?

The victor in the semi-final match will be pitted against the victor of the American Football Conference, where the Pittsburgh Steelers will face Jacksonville Jaguars while New England Patriots will play against the Tennessee Titans in their respective divisions.

In the first game Saturday, the Atlanta Falcons hope to continue their successful road trip in Philly against the Eagles, who haven't been the same team since Carson Wentz went down with a season-ending knee injury. He picked the Atlanta Falcons, the reigning NFC champs who lost last year's Super Bowl after having a 28-3 lead. However, their offense struggled throughout the game, and the Patriots will likely take advantage of it during Saturday's match-up.

Teams also practiced at home during Super Bowl week, which the National Football League allowed at the time.

The logistical nightmare can still be worked around with the built-in bye week between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl, but even that may not be enough time to get everything done that would typically get done. Arguably the Steelers' worst game of the season was a 30-9 home loss to the Jags in Week 5. The Jaguars' defense is very talented, and could give Brady some problems with the pressure they get on the quarterback, along with their strong secondary. Both teams are picking up their play at the right time, which is essential in having success in the playoffs.

Currently, the New England Patriots have the highest probability to win the Super Bowl at 29 percent, and are AccuScore's pick to win the championship for the second year in a row.

It is only the divisional round and there is still plenty of football to be played, but a Super Bowl rematch can still happen.
