Reported Liverpool target Lemar could leave Monaco, Jardim admits

Thomas Lemar

And although Jardim has reiterated his point, he also insinuated that the club would be powerless to knock back a large bid for the 22-year-old.

Chelsea and Manchester United have been keeping tabs on Lemar but the Frenchman respects Liverpool's long-held interest in him.

The versatile France global has also been linked with Liverpool, who are seeking replacements for key midfielder Philippe Coutinho after he sealed a dream move to Barcelona.

The Frenchman almost joined the Gunners in the summer transfer window but a late move on deadline day fell through.

Arsenal, though, are set to rekindle their interest in Lemar and are poised to make another offer for the winger in January, with Alexis Sanchez's exit from the Emirates Stadium looming large.

But with the scoring form of Liverpool's trio, especially Salah who has 17 goals so far at 0.96 per 90, Lemar to Liverpool could be a deal worth doing.

Jurgen Klopp has already broken the bank this month to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton but still has money to spend from the £142m fee generated by the Brazilian's sale. You know how insane the market is.

While Jardim insisted his club tend to leave their deals until the summer, the Portuguese manager admitted anything can happen. It happened at Liverpool.

"The numbers today are incredibly big". However, the move failed to materialize and Lemar ended up staying put at the principality-based outfit.

With a little less than three weeks left in the transfer window, Jardim is expected to have more uncertain days over Lemar's future at the Stade Louis II.

"Diakhaby is a young player, we believe in him, he has progressed".
