The aircraft, which had taken off from Ankara and was operated by Turkish low-priced carrier Pegasus Airlines, was landing at Trabzon Airport on Turkey'sBlack Sea coast when the hair-raising accident happened on Saturday night.
Pegasus said in a statement the aircraft had been successfully evacuated and no injuries were reported.
The Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737-800 with 162 passengers and six crew had flown from Ankara and just landed at Trabzon on the Black Sea coast.
Anadolu showed footage of the efforts to rescue the plane, which became stuck in mud just metres away from the sea.
Other images from Dogan news agency showed smoke emanating from the trapped plane.
One of the passengers, Fatma Gordu, panic erupted onboard during the landing.
"We tilted to the side, the front was down while the plane's rear was up". Yavuz said the cause of the incident was not yet known and the airport was closed until 08:00 a.m. local (05:00 GMT).
Flights have resumed at the Trabzon International Airport on Sunday morning, after being temporarily suspended following the incident.
