Pacific Rim: Uprising Cancels The Apocalypse Again With An Exciting Second Trailer
Video: Our latest look at the next chapter in Pacific Rim's robot-vs-monster punchup is here, and it's promising to bring us plenty of new action with the film's next generation of Jaegers.
Is Pacific Rim still the greatest film of all time?
Set years after the event of the first film, Pacific Rim Uprising follows Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost, who witnessed his father's demise at the end of the original.
In addition to the new cast, we see Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) making a return, as well as Charlie Day. What a shame. The keys to the Jaeger vs. Kaiju kingdom have been passed to Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight.
It's also worth noting that Pacific Rim Uprising features Jaegar-on-Jaegar fighting, which is particularly exciting, and signposts that the plot will revolve not just around another tousle with the Kaiju, but also against human traitors.
Unwilling to go down the path that he seemed destined for, Pentecost has abandoned all training and become embroiled in a criminal underworld that's corrupted his mind.
Pacific Rim Uprising now has a 3.59 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making Pacific Rim Uprising the 11th most anticipated upcoming movie not based on a comic book among ComicBook.com users.
We were born into a world at war - between the monsters that destroyed our cities, and the monsters we created to stop them. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction. "What I wanted to see after Pacific Rim is what we see in this movie".
Scott Eastwood also stars in the flick as Pentecost's rival pilot Lambert, whilst newcomer Cailee Spaeny takes on the role of 15-tear-old hacker Amara.
Pacific Rim: Uprising is set to arrive in theaters on March 23.
