In previous letters to the premier and MPPs, I have stated that not only are you raising the minimum wage too fast, but that because of the current minimum, this has resulted in experienced and knowledgeable employees demanding higher pay as well, since they feel that a person with no experience will receive the amount mandated by the government. "And if Mr. Joyce Jr. wants to pick a fight, pick that fight with me and not the people who are working at the service window of the stores".

The Great White North Franchisee Association, which formed previous year out of a frustration with management that has been running the parent company since its mega-merger with Burger King in 2014, chided Wynne for seemingly conflating that deal with Joyce's final divestment of shares, which occurred more than a decade ago.

The minimum wage hike and other new franchisee costs, like vacation pay, have put Tim Hortons franchisees in "a hard situation", said a statement from the GWNFA's board of directors.

"Restaurant owners are expected to comply with all applicable laws and regulations within their jurisdiction".
