NBC's Megyn Kelly walks back from fat-shaming comments

The clarification came after Kelly said on her Tuesday show that fat-shaming could be a useful tool for women who want to lose weight and that it had in fact worked for her.

Kelly ended the monologue telling her audience she would "never encourage" someone to be attacked due to their body image.

On The View today, the panel didn't really seem to buy Kelly's backtracking statement as guest host Wendy Williams snarked that the NBC star sounded "so authentic" after they played a clip of Kelly's monologue.

Kelly retraced her steps a day later, saying Friday she doesn't support shaming. "We were discussing body shaming others, something I absolutely do not support", she said. When I was in graduate school, I was putting on weight. She has thousands of followers who have created their own no excuses clubs throughout the country and then I revealed something even I used to do 25 years ago.

She proceeded with, "This talk is hazardous and I need to tell every one of the young ladies here: I'm a traditionalist political investigator; I'm as yet an extremely an exceptionally political individual regardless (Kelly) has chosen to do with her vocation". I spoke to my sister yesterday and she gave me permission to share that she was, at one point, over 300 pounds and ultimately chose to have gastric bypass surgery...

Kelly's turn-around comes after her Thursday interview with Maria King, the "fit mom" who drew her own backlash with a 2013 photo that showed off her toned abs, her three kids and the headline "What's your excuse?" "I was chubby by any standard and soon I found myself on the wrong side of some vicious bullies", Kelly continued. "I'm still a very political person, no matter what she made a decision to do with her career". Soon there were diet pills and obsessive exercise and I had reduced my calorie intake to 500 calories a day. What I know without a doubt is that weight is an issue for many individuals, thin and overwhelming alike. "And neither deserves to be judged or shamed for how they choose to handle that struggle". McCain noted that Dean is one of her best friends and has been there for her in the wake of her father's cancer diagnosis. McCain shared that she was fat-shamed by Laura Ingraham when she was 24. I had been fat-shamed publicly and humiliated my entire career. She added, "I think we need to be responsible in our rhetoric on television. I got a hot husband, I got a cool job". "I've never shed pounds for anything".
