Mourinho hails Lingard after wonder goal fires United

After their disappointing goalless draw against Southampton at the weekend, Manchester United got back to winning ways on Monday, courtesy of a much-improved performance away to Everton.

PROFESSIONAL AND HIGH-QUALITY DISPLAY " The boys were fantastic - the attitude, the commitment, the desire, the professionalism, the pride. We managed to calm them and to be in control and on top of that the goals are good goals, so I think a fantastic three points.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has lots of appreciation for Everton manager Sam Allardyce, a coach he insists he will always be grateful to.

"I don't know about transfers". "I know in this moment we are in trouble, but maybe in two or three weeks we recover more players and we think differently and wait until the summer to try things, but I can not say now". It is something I can not say.

"Everything was top class".

Mourinho said after Monday's game he believed Lukaku could potentially return on Friday in the FA Cup, after saying on Saturday that Ibrahimovic would be sidelined for a month.

Anthony Martial started up front in the absence of Romelu Lukaku due to injury and scored a wonderfully composed finish before Jesse Lingard trumped that goal with an even better one to seal the victory.

It was Lingard's 10th goal of the season and his fourth in his last five appearances.

Mourinho added: "One thing is to be a young talent, and another thing is to be a very good player".

"Some players aren't capable of that jump".

Allardyce, meanwhile, criticised his players for the manner in which they conceded each goal. Lingard is giving that jump.

United have been linked with a number of players, in a variety of positions, especially in central midfield, right wing and left back.

The game began to open up as the break neared and both sides went close in quick succession - Tom Davies first seeing an effort deflected just off target after a poor David de Gea clearance, before Paul Pogba sent a powerful 25-yard effort agonisingly wide. The boys were fantastic in the way they controlled the game, controlled an awesome stadium with a very strong atmosphere which supports incredibly well the home team.
