Apart from changing the film's title, the modifications included disclaimer that does not claim historical accuracy, modifications in the song "Ghoomar" to make the depiction befitting the character being portrayed, correcting incorrect/misleading references to historical places, and a disclaimer that says the film doesn't subscribes to the practice of Sati or seeks to glorify it. It has been at the centre of controversies for past one year, ever since Bhansali began shooting in January last year in Jaipur.
"The makers have submitted the final film with agreed five modifications". The new name of the film is "Padmaavat".
However, the all-clear from the CBFC failed to satisfy the Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje who said the film would not be shown in cinemas in the state, even as the Rajput community demanded a nationwide ban on the film.
Secondly, the title of the movie was suggested to be changed from Padmavati to Padmavat if the filmmakers had added their creativity.
The producers also said they appreciate the "balanced approach" adopted by the censor board to address the situation. The committee made by the CBFC watched the movie and said the movie was vulgar and the facts were distorted.
"It will release as Padmavat on 25 January". If there is a law and order issue, we will look at it then.
Karni Sena workers claim that changing the name of the film doesn't suffice.
