Former Child Model Commits Suicide After Being Bullied, Her Family Says

One message sent to the teenage rodeo champion read: 'Why don't you just go cut your wrist until you bleed out, you'll do everyone a favour.

"We were shocked and distressed to hear of the passing of "Dolly" - the young girl many of you will recognize from our past Christmas adverts", the company wrote on Facebook.

"Promise to live better each day for having known this handsome child", family friend Jackie Price read.

Eight years ago, Amy "Dolly" Everett appeared in an ad for Akubra wearing one of their famous "bush hats".

Friends and relatives donned her favourite shade of blue as they paid their respects at Casuarina Street Primary School in Katherine, Northern Australia.

"We don't want another family to go through what we are going through", Everett said.

One in five children in Australia said they were bullied in the past year, .

"And remember, speak, even if your voice shakes".

At her funeral service on Friday, her family remembered their girl as a "beautiful little china doll", calling her "kindest, (most) caring, attractive soul".

In the wake of her death, there have been calls for renewed effort to stop bullying, including from Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Vieda herself brought the crowd to tears when she recited a poem she had written in Dolly's honour, in which she said, "You'll never be forgotten, that simply I will be".

Meanwhile, the family have established a trust called "Dolly's Dream" dedicated to raising awareness around bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide. This attractive photo was taken 8 years ago. It is up to us to stand up when we see any kind of bullying behaviour.

Friends and strangers reflected on Dolly and her battle that has touched the nation's heart.

In 2016, The Sun Online launched its Block The Bullying Campaign with the NSPCC in a bid to stamp out the sharing of vile videos showing children being attacked.

"This week has been an example of how social media should be used, it has also been an example of how it shouldn't be", he wrote.
