When all eyes were on Pad Man taking over Sanjay Leela Bhansali'sPadmaavat at the box office on January 25, Khiladi Kumar surprised everyone by pushing the release date to February 9. So it's back to square one as originally, Pad Man and Aiyaary were suppose to clash at the box office during the Republic Day weekend. "He knows all our troubles, so he didn't even take two minutes and said, 'Whatever you want, however you want, I am with you, '" Bhansali said, adding that he will be grateful to Akshay Kumar for a "lifetime".
Sanjay Leela Bhansali thanked Akshay Kumar at a press conference held on Friday, and now Padmaavat's lead Deepika Padukone has thanked Akshay on Twitter.
Directed by R Balki, Pad Man was set to clash with Bhansali's much delayed and controversial Padmaavat on 25 January. Akshay Kumar's film will now release on 9 Feb 2018.
Now that Pad Man will release on February 9, it's clashing with Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee starrer, Aiyaary.
Speaking at the press conference, Akshay suggested that he arrived at the decision on Bhansali's request.
Padmaavat is made on a lavish budget and needs a vacant release date to compensate for their heavily invested moolah. With due respect to SLB as his film "Padmavaat" has a higher stake in comparison to my film, thus I agreed to his request.
Padmaavat has been the most awaited film of an year now and all this controversy has proven o be fuel in the hype fire. The film is facing opposition from Rajput outfits, who allege that the film distorts historical facts.
