Gardaí do not suspect foul play after body found in Dalkey yesterday

Mr Burke's body was discovered by a resident in a laneway just off Dalkey's Convent Road shortly after 8am yesterday morning.

A forensic team carried out an examination of the scene today before the body was removed.

However, it now appears the man may have died after becoming impaled on a fence dividing the laneway from a auto park.

Initial reports indicated the incident may have been violent in nature as he had a wound to his abdomen, and the scene was attended by a Garda Armed Response Unit vehicle.

Local fishmonger Andy Spencer, who works around the corner from the scene of the accident, said everyone in the community has been hit by the tragedy.

"But then I heard that it was a tragic accident. He was a good guy, a very nice lad".

His body was brought to the City Morgue and following a preliminary post-mortem examination gardai have confirmed they are not treating his death as suspicious.

They are still appealing to anyone who was in the area between 10 o'clock on Thursday night and 2am yesterday morning to come forward.

The scene where a body was found off Convent Road in Dalkey this morning Picture Colin Keegan, Collins Dublin.

Gardaí are now at the scene, which has been sealed off for a forensic exam.
