Mayfield has had a good week of practice at the Senior Bowl, which has apparently put him firmly on Cleveland's radar.
According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, there is a belief that Baker Mayfield is firmly in the mix for the top pick, possessing numerous attributes GM John Dorsey may be seeking. Mayfield draft stock is trenindg up coming off a Heisman winning season.
Robinson cites new general manager John Dorsey as having a fondness for Mayfield's mentality and the accuracy and mobility necessary to be a franchise quarterback, something Cleveland hasn't had in decades when Bernie Kosar was under center. The Browns hold the top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft they could decide to spend on a quarterback. A three-time Heisman finalist, Mayfield certainly had the college production, but his biggest area of concern for National Football League teams is his height.
Entering Senior Bowl Week in Mobile, Alabama, Baker Mayfield wasn't in the discussion for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. For whatever reason, Cleveland is where careers go to die.
Of course, with the first round of the draft set for April 26, there's lots of time for the Browns to make a decision, and Dorsey is expected to look closely at Wyoming's Josh Allen and UCLA's Josh Rosen, as well as Mayfield and Darnold.
However, that all may have changed after a strong showing throughout the week where he clearly outshined fellow top-rated quarterback and projected first-round pick Josh Allen.
