Europe not underestimating Asia ahead of EurAsia Cup

The inaugural EurAsia Cup finished as a 10-10 tie in 2014, with a Europe side captained by Darren Clarke cruising to a 13-point victory over Team Asia. I saw Davis (Love III) at a range somewhere and I kind of told him that I was captaining.

Playing in his second EurAsia Cup, the six-time Asian Tour victor is looking forward to the clash with 12 of Europe's best players at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club. I know we all are good friends on Team Asia, so everybody is friendly, funny.

Noren is joined by the likes of reigning Race to Dubai victor Tommy Fleetwood, former Open champion Henrik Stenson, Tyrrell Hatton, Paul Casey and Rafa Cabrera-Bello in a formidable European team that will present their Asian counterparts with a stiff challenge.

And that means the 46-year-old Dane is giving everything he can to ensure Europe regain the trophy from the United States at Le Golf National in Paris in September.

"I don't want to ever sound cocky with a team like Europe, and I'm not going to get cocky, but it's a great start, " Asia captain Arjun Atwal said.

Experienced Englishman Paul Casey and France's Alex Levy are Bjorn's two wildcard picks against an Asian side led by three-time European Tour victor Arjun Atwal of India.

"SSP and I are very comfortable playing with each other".

The Indian captain has also turned to golf ace Tiger Woods for advice as he aims to inspire his team.

"It's great to be involved here and I think if anyone said they weren't thinking about the Ryder Cup, even a little bit, then they would be lying", he wrote.

Team Asia have only seven in Top-100 for the third edition of the EurAsia Cup. This is no such thing as an underdog in match play golf.

Casey could have challenged for a place in the 2016 team but made himself unavailable for the defeat at Hazeltine by not being a member of the European Tour at the time. "You can be underdogs on paper, but once the matches start, anything can happen".

Green, who clinched the Asian Tour Order of Merit last month, clinched the match with two birdie putts in the final three holes to give Asia its second point. "I've asked him to fulfill a dual role as a senior player and he has really taken to it".
