Bengals fans say thanks by donating to Bortles Foundation for beating Steelers

Earlier this year, Buffalo fans donated generously to the Andy Dalton Foundation after Cincinnati stunned Baltimore and sent the Bills to the playoffs for the first time in 18 years.

The almost $5,000 in contributions donated so far started to come in after the Jaguars beat the Bengals' rival, the Steelers, 45-42.

Cincinnati Bengals fans have been donating money to the Blake Bortles Foundation as a way to say thank you for the Jaguars' 45-42 victory last Sunday, which knocked one of the Bengals' biggest rivals out of the playoffs.

If Bengals fans donated this much money for eliminating the team they hate the most, just imagine how many donations the foundation might rack up if Bortles beats a Patriots team that almost everyone in America seems to hate.

Cincinnati sports radio host Mo Egger encouraged Bengals fans through his blog, Twitter page, and during his show Monday to, as he said, "pay it forward" and support the Bortles Foundation. Dalton threw a 49-yard touchdown pass that pushed the Bengals over the top, allowing the Bills to make their first playoff appearance since 1999.

Plus, since the Jaguars will challenge the New England Patriots - a team many National Football League fans are exhausted of watching win - in the AFC Championship, we can only imagine what donations would follow if Bortles and Co. spring the upset.

So far, Bortles' charity has only received $5,000 in donations.

The Blake Bortles Foundation was established in 2015 to support children with intellectual and developmental challenges as they pursue independent and active lives.

After starting the season 3-3, the Jaguars finished 7-3 and won the AFC South for the first time in almost two decades.
