A 'John Wick' TV show is in the works at Starz

'John Wick' TV Series in the Works at Starz (With Keanu Reeves Attached)

In an age where launching an original franchise - much less an entire cinematic universe - is incredibly hard, John Wick is the little intellectual property that could: in the span of a mere four years, the movie has received a sequel, the announcements of a trilogy-capper and a planned spin-off entitled The Ballerina, a comic series, and a video game in development. "I think you can expect to see him at some point in the series". John Wick became a huge hit, so much so that John Wick: Chapter 2 hit theaters past year, and John Wick: Chapter 3 is now gearing up to start filming very soon.

The show would take place within the "John Wick" universe and revolve around the mysterious Continental Hotel, a refuge for hired assassins. Keanu Reeves is only now involved as a producer and now has no on-air parts written for his famous character.

John Wick is the latest film franchise to get a series treatment.

The John Wick universe is moving to television. Key to the reboots is having the original producers involved, which The Continental has with Lionsgate and the John Wick's original producing team.

While it was originally reported that Reeves will not star in the series, word came from the TCA panel that he will likely make an appearance on the show.

Speaking to open the Starz panels at the Television Critics Assn. press tour on Friday, network Chief Executive Chris Albrecht said "The Continental" and the movies will exist side by side.

In partnership with Lionsgate, the series will be written and run by Chris Collins as well as executive-produced by a number parties including Basil Iwanyk, Chad Stahelski, and Keanu Reeves among others.

"Howards End", a four-episode limited series, is based on E.M. Forster's novel of the same name and will premiere on Sunday, April 8.
