Friday was the last day of the nine-day shibir and participants were to leave on Saturday morning. About 15 people suffered burn injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. "The identity of the third girl has yet to be ascertained", said Pandey.

Rajkot district collector Vikrant Pandey confirmed that the three girls were identified as Kijnal A Shiala (14), from Ambardi in Rajkot; Krupali A Dave (14), from Vavdi Road in Morbi and Neeta S Jamod (16), from Ghamrasada at Sayla in Surendranagar district. The event was organised by spiritual leader Swami Dharmabandhu.

As many as 10,000 participants were staying in around 300 tents erected at an open ground at the venue. Army jawans and officers also take part in this camp.

The fire that was reportedly caused by a short circuit devoured around 60 tents within no time. The closely erected tents were made of fabric, which resulted in the fire spreading rapidly. "Samples have been collected for forensic examination for determination", Sood said. "Students who came from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir were sent to Ahmedabad and from there they will be sent to their respective destinations", Pandey added. The incident occurred at Rajkot district's Pransla village 360km from capital Gandhinagar.
