Ole Miss wide receiver Van Jefferson (12) catches a pass during the second half of the Ole Miss-Alabama game on September 30, 2017, at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The Florida Gators have added a very talented wide receiver to the team.
Van Jeffersonrevealed on Twitter on Monday night he'll be transferring from Ole Miss to Southeastern Conference rival Florida. Because he is in his fourth season of eligibility, he will be eligible immediately at UF, with no need for a waiver. As a Rebel, Jefferson has 91 receptions for 999 yards and 4 touchdowns in two seasons.
Hester, who coached the receiver at Ravenwood and now coaches at Nolensville High School in Tennessee, remains close with Jefferson and said the two talked once or twice a day during this transfer process.
Quarterback Shea Patterson is coming to MI, but one of his top receivers won't be coming with him.
Van Jefferson was a redshirt-sophomore wide receiver out of the University of Mississippi. He is also the son of former National Football League wide receiver Shawn Jefferson.
"He leaned on his father greatly with his father being an National Football League receivers coach, and I think his father has in the past scouted kids that Billy's coached and things of that nature". Jefferson would likely be able to play meaningful snaps off the bat as long as he is cleared to play by the NCAA.
Alabama freshman LB Dylan Moses suffers foot injury
Outside backers Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis both missed most of the season but played in the Iron Bowl, too. A five-star signee this year, the freshman linebacker suffered the injury during a Monday practice session.
