Schumer promises a Senate vote on overturning FCC's net neutrality repeal

Last night, in an attempt to pwn the libtards who were dismayed by the vote to kill the regulations preventing internet-service providers from charging more for access to certain content, Trump Jr. tweeted, "I would pay good money to see all those people complaining about Obama's FCC chairman voting to repeal #NetNeutality actually explain it in detail".

"You claim the FCC provided public participation and transparency by receiving millions of comments and permitting additional comments during the past two weeks, after it published the interim draft rule", Schneiderman wrote in the letter to General Counsel Thomas Johnson Jr. "We must continue the fight to preserve net neutrality protections".

"Yet the FCC is moving full steam ahead with a vote based on this corrupted process, while refusing to cooperate with an investigation", Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a statement Wednesday.

A recent poll shows that more than 80 per cent of Americans support net neutrality principles, including the overwhelming majority of Republican voters.

Net neutrality is the concept that ISPs who build networks should not use that privileged position to choose who can use those networks to share or access information online.

"I don't think it affects the whole world as of tomorrow, but I certainly believe that over time it will have an effect", Holland said in an interview.

The FCC's 3-2 decision along Republican-Democrat party lines had been expected - with chairman Ajit Pai casting the deciding vote.

But OpenMedia - a Canadian consumer advocacy group that has campaigned for net neutrality - said Thursday the FCC decision will have a negative impact on innovation, free expression and consumer choice.

"Let's be clear. Returning to the legal framework that governed the internet from. 1996 to 2015, is not going to destroy the internet", Pai said. In the months before the primary election season, members of Congress will be pressed hard to take action to ensure freedom online. "We can bring it to the floor and force a vote".
