The company said it will offer numerous same new-release movies available at Redbox kiosks, along with an expanded library of older movies and TV shows for rental or purchase on demand.

Redbox on Demand will offer 48-hour rentals starting at $3.99 and electronic sell-through transactions for $9.99.

Redbox has inked deals for the service with Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures Entertainment, 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures. Purchased content can be downloaded, flawless for offline, on-the-go watching. Speaking to Variety, Redbox CEO Galen Smith described the new service as a "natural extension" of the company's rental kiosks. Library content starts at $1.99.

The service, which is still in beta, is available via, the Redbox app for Android and iOS-enabled devices, as well as on Apple TV, Chromecast, and LG and Samsung smart TVs.

"We know consumers have a lot of choices when it comes to subscription streaming services, but no other brand is as closely associated with new-release movies as Redbox", added Smith.

The iOS app is available now for free on the App Store.

In addition to rending and selling physical copies at Kiosks, Redbox customers can now rent or even buy such content. Movies that they do buy are available for download for offline viewing.

Redbox On Demand delivers a broad selection of movies to rent or purchase for streaming. Now available in public beta on the Redbox website, Android and iOS devices, the Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku and Samsung Smart TVs, Redbox On Demand will be coming to more platforms during the beta. Rather, the company said it wants to keep its kiosk customers in the family by offering them an at-home service.

Redbox has around 42,000 kiosks in service, 45 million active email subscribers, 35 million app users and 27 million loyalty club members.
