The 52-year-old coach is a Tennessee native, having played and coached for the Volunteers.
Randy Sanders, who spent the last four years as Florida State's co-offensive coordinator, has agreed to a deal to become East Tennessee State's head coach, sources told ESPN.
The former Tennessee quarterback and longtime Vols assistant coach is "expected" to take over the East Tennessee State football program as head coach.
Sanders "resigned" after a rough 2005 season. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2009. He also was an assistant at Kentucky.
Sanders obviously didn't make the transition with Fisher to Texas A&M.
While in Tallahassee, Sanders mentored Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston and won a second national championship.
Sanders will return to Neyland Stadium in 2018 for the first time since 2012. He succeeds Carl Torbush, who retired on December 8, three years after resurrecting a Buccaneers program that disbanded following the 2003 season. East Tennessee State resurrected its football program in 2015 after disbanding the program following the 2003 season.
