Queensland election: Labor to form government as LNP concedes defeat

#QLDVotes Labor claims its 48th seat, however LNP is yet to concede

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is about to visit Governor Paul de Jersey after Labor officially clinched enough seats to form government in Queensland, nearly a fortnight after voters went to the polls.

EARLIER @ December 6, 8.20am: It looks like Labor has claimed the 47th seat it needs to form a majority government.

The opposition leader phoned the premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, on Friday morning to advise her.

Mr Nicholls spent the week after the election touring the south-east, holding press conferences to keep pressure on the Premier to not break a promise not to form a minority government.

This time it will be a majority, albeit slim, something Ms Palaszczuk insisted throughout that campaign was the only result she would accept.

Treasurer Curtis Pitt is expected to be on the chopping block, amid reports he could be moved into the Speaker's role.

Independent Sandy Bolton has won in Noosa and Katter's Australian Party is expected to finish with three seats, Hill, Traeger, and Hinchinbrook, with the latter among the nine seats yet to be declared.
