Professor talks moving Israel's capitol to Jerusalem

Jerusalem remains at the core of the Israel-Palestine conflict, with Palestinians hoping that East Jerusalem - now occupied by Israel - might eventually serve as the capital of a future Palestinian state.

- Christians leaders in Jerusalem have voiced fear over the repercussions of America's recognition of the city as Israel's capital, asking that worldwide law be respected in the interest of maintaining peace.

AP said the decision was devoid of justice, violated worldwide laws and infringed on the rights of Palestinians. Most Christian tradition holds that the church is located at the site of the Crucifixion and burial of Jesus. "And, excluding other people putting up walls, putting up barriers not allowing Palestinians, the native people, to have access to city".

The Labour party chair said that he understood the "two-state solution for two peoples" as "the solution" for Israel's security, and one that would "keep Israel democratic" while "enabling us to keep the Jewish spirit of our nation".

It also said that the USA step is a clear violation of global decisions regarding Jerusalem's occupied status and the end of the occupation.

"Recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is not a recognition of the reality on the ground; it is an expression of support for Israeli policies, much of which is in contravention of the worldwide law".

During the Catholicosate's World General National Assembly's visit with Lebanese President General Michel Aoun on Thursday, Aram I said that the move to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital may have negative repercussions in a volatile region of the Middle East and may jeopardize the ongoing peace process. "We are certain that such steps will yield increased hatred, conflict, violence and suffering in Jerusalem and the Holy Land, moving us farther from the goal of unity and deeper toward destructive division", read a part of the declaration. Any sudden changes would cause irreparable harm.

Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Ministry of Foreign Affairs also denounced Trump's move on Jerusalem.

"Egypt condemns the U.S.' decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move its ambassador to Jerusalem".

The leaders sent a letter prior toTrump's move to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital which reversed decades of US policy on Wednesday.

The Vatican has long supported a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, and on a diplomatic level recognizes and refers to both "the State of Israel" and "the State of Palestine".
