It is a staple of British royal life - an outdoor meet-and-greet with enthusiastic locals, often in relatively mundane locations, and replete with potential pitfalls.

Following the announcement of Meghan Markle's engagement to the UK's Prince Harry, it's now been confirmed that she will be leaving the cast of the U.S. drama Suits.

Chanting "Harry, Harry!" and "Meghan, Meghan!" hundreds of people lined the streets of a central English city Friday to welcome Britain's Prince Harry and his American fiancee, actress Meghan Markle.

Markle, 36, had been starring on the HBO series "Suits" when they began dating, but confirmed after the engagement that she was giving up acting.

"Kate wears clutches, which can be awkward to hold when shaking hands and going on walkabouts".

Markle smiled and looked confident as she basked in the adoration of a crowd that had waited for hours in the cold to catch a passing glimpse of the couple.

While the monarch is famed for her classic handbags, and rarely seen in public without one, the Duchess of Cambridge rarely does so on official visits. "I thought: Harry's bringing his bird so I brought mine". He was like "Oh, hi, hi", and Meghan shook my hand...

Libby Morton, a university student from Minnesota now studying in the United Kingdom, said she turned out on Friday because Americans "absolutely adore the royal family".

Kensington Palace tweeted a picture of Harry and Meghan meeting children taking part in a kickboxing lesson.

It's not the first time Megahn's fashion choices have caused a stir. The two went to Nottingham Contemporary to attend a Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity fair.

Markle, who has played paralegal-turned-lawyer lawyer Rachel Zane for seven seasons of the popular legal drama, acknowledged that she was moving on from the series in her first joint interview with her new fiancé Prince Harry.

Meghan received numerous gifts, including a goody bag with fridge magnets. "I cried - she's wonderful, and it's fantastic". Harry established Full Effect through The Royal Foundation in 2014.
