Podcast: Lakers beat Sixers on the road behind Brandon Ingram game-winner

Brandon Ingram

Despite Philly hustling back in transition and having a timeout in his pocket, Walton chose to let the Lakers play, and Ball pulled it back out, passing to a trailing Ingram on the right wing - who, realizing Ball could not have been more open, quickly kicked it to Lonzo in the far corner.

For the Lakers, Brandon Ingram starred with 21 points, including the game-clinching three-pointer, while much-hyped guard Lonzo Ball had 10 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, including dishing to Ingram for the match-winner. He finished 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, three blocks and four steals.

When the Lakers and Sixers met last month, Joel Embiid exploded for 46 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocked shots in a game Philadelphia won 115-109 at Staples Center.

Booing Lonzo Ball just about every time he dribbled the ball and then going at it with LaVar, Sixers fans had The Center feeling as lively as ever.

On Thursday night in Philadelphia, Ben Simmons recorded a triple-double and Joel Embiid led all scorers with 33 points, but the Los Angeles Lakers claimed the victory in a flawless advertisment for the team's future. They earned it by playing a cleaner game for 48 minutes.

On the latest Lakers Outsiders podcast, the guys get together to talk about the exciting matchup between two of the most promising young cores in the National Basketball Association.

The Los Angeles Lakers were in Philadelphia to take on the 76ers Thursday night, and it did not disappoint. Ingram probably had the best night of any Laker. They entered the fourth quarter trailing by 12 points, and managed to tie the game at 101 with about two-and-a-half minutes left in the game.

All three committed four turnovers, though, contributing to a night of unforced errors in which the Sixers coughed it up 18 times leading to 25 Laker points.

Richuan Holmes, a third-year power forward, also played a role in the Sixers' late push and finished with 13 points off the Sixers' bench. And Julius Randle was terrific down the stretch with 16 points, giving Embiid and the Sixers fits off pick and rolls.

All five starters from both teams scored in double figures, further providing evidence of ball movement and balance in a fast-paced game that was fun to watch for the neutral fans.

The Sixers have now dropped two straight falling to the Suns earlier in the week.
