"There's a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation", he said.

The Ocean's 11-13 star will be making a cameo in the Sandra Bullock-led sequel, and fans are NOT happy about it given his recent comments on Hollywood's sexual misconduct scandal.

Matt Damon's barely in Ocean's 8, but soon he might not be in it at all. Damon says he is good friends with Thor actor Chris Hemsworth and the film's director Taika Waititi. Just like they want the behavior cut out of Hollywood, petition creators also want Damon cut out of the movie.

Damon denied trying to bury the story and claimed he had no idea of the allegations against Weinstein, who helped make him an global household name.

The Care 2 petition reads: 'The all-female reboot of Ocean's 8 was supposed to be an empowering film for women. The petition, which has almost reached its goal of 18,000 signatures, reads, "This behavior is beyond enabling - it's just gross", referring to the 47-year-old actor's comments on sexual abuse that were deemed not appropriate by many. And then on Monday, Matt told Business Insider while promoting his new movie Downsizing: "We're in this watershed moment, and it's great, but I think one thing that's not being talked about is there are a whole sh*load of guys-the preponderance of men I've worked with-who don't do this kind of thing and whose lives aren't going to be affected".

It cites the report that said Damon killed a 2004 New York Times story about Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual assault and harassment of women years before the 2017 New York Times report.

"Damon's inclusion would trivialize the serious nature of the charges against sexual abusers like Weinstein - a show massive disrespect for the courageous women speaking out", petition creator Rebecca G. wrote.

Damon's long-time friend Ben Affleck, with whom he shared an Oscar for best screenplay for Good Will Hunting, and Affleck's actor-brother Casey, have also been accused publicly in recent months of sexual misconduct. "It would also send a bad message about the inevitability of - and lack of accountability for - sexual harassment in the workplace that four in ten American women experience".

The 2018 release puts a feminine spin on the "Ocean's" franchise, formerly fronted by George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Damon and a bunch of other dudes.
